Which Download is right for you?

Flac1
Logo_mp31
We are very excited about the quality of the audio in our direct to stereo recordings so we have provided two high quality downloads available for you in
the jazzlotion store.

mp3 at 320Kbps
This is a compressed file format which makes the file smaller so it downloads quicker. We made these files in the mastering room to ensure they are the best they can possibly be, but they're not full CD quality. Just download them then simply drag & drop into your iTunes.

FLAC
FLAC is a lossless audio format, meaning the quality of the audio doesn’t get degraded during the compression. We think it sounds better and is much closer to CD quality, but unfortunately these files will not currently play in iTunes so you will need another player. There are a number of players available for both Mac & PC. There's more information here and we like this player from videolan too.

Peter Edwards Trio at Ray's Jazz

On Friday March 4th the Peter Edwards Trio played a storming set on the Ray's Jazz Stage in the first floor cafe at Foyle's in Charing Cross Road, the premier early evening slot for hearing live jazz in the centre of London. With regular bassist Max Luthert and drummer Salem Raman, Peter performed music from the jazzlotion E.P. as well as trying out some brand new repertoire in advance of the upcoming Kings Place showcase gig on Saturday 19 March along with the Binker Golding Quartet. Tickets are available now from Kings Place.

Peter Edwards Trio... jazzlotion E.P. Jazzwise review

Peter Edwards is a roll your sleeves up and get down and swing guy. That’s not always apparent with say, Rhythmica, where he’s very much part of a driving rhythm section and a colourist setting up the horn guys. Which is all part of being in a quintet. But with his trio, Edwards, rightly so, goes for it. He has a fine tuned sense of swing, as per the opening ‘Byron’s Blues’ which takes a straightahead, simple phrase and dances its legs off. Edwards, with a composer’s ear and performer’s sense of drama, doesn’t overcomplicate his material, even on something like ‘Nine Lives’ in which he skates seamlessly through skittering meters before zoning into a no frills exposition (with Raman having a ball). And for good measure (and Edwards deals in good measures), there’s also a touch of Horace Silver, an ear for a soulful song and a Caribbean bounce, all brought forth in the closing ‘Mas Calypso’. This is very much a calling card for Edwards, hence the ‘showcase’ feel of the songs, with the piano man setting out his talents for all to peruse. But why not, he has many skills to display. - Andy Robson ***
